La Tovara Reserve

La Tovara Reserve, San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico – 2019. I was in Mexico on a Habitat for Humanity Global Village build in El Monteón which is a small town located in the state of Nayarit, about 70km north of Puerto Vallarta and just a few miles from the tourist town of Rincón de Guayabitos were we stayed during and after the build. After the GV Build my wife and I visited San Blas and did a guided boat trip through the estuary and mangrove swamps of the La Tovara Reserve near San Blas. The area is full of natural canals that flow through the jungle. The vegetation is lush and full of tropical plants and there is lots of wildlife including crocodiles, turtles, fish and birds. The boat ride included a stop at Kiekari Cocodrilario – A place to miss. Many large crocodiles in small pools, a jaguar and some other small mammals in cages looking distressed.
